1,300KM round trip to East Coast

We made a short round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu for the Qing-Ming Festival 清明 (Chinese Tomb Sweeping Day).

East Coast

With respect of the ancestors, it may not be nice to take pictures of this colourful and smoky festival.

Fish on Land

So, I rather showed you the original skeleton of the famous Perak Man. This is the oldest complete set of skeleton discovered in South East Asia. He lived more than 10,000 years ago. Note: Peking Man dated back to 300,000 years.

Perak Man

This skeleton has been relocated back to Lenggong Archaeological Museum in 2014 for Malaysia Tourism Year. Lenggong Valley has been crowned as the World Heritage Site.

One day I shall travel to the cave sites for another visit.

This trip was a bit rush so my focus was to reach the destinations on time and in one piece.

Flora 1

We stopped by Grik for a quick bite and driven through the East-West highways. We did not have luxury of photo sessions, so some of these images were taken from the car.

Flora 2

Driving could be tiring but we have luxury to stop if necessary. Especially for little things like the grass by the roadside (silly but fun).

Nasi Kahwin

For light travel, I carried a point-and-shoot camera. It is good camera for some food hunt pictures. Nasi Kahwin is the mixture of Nasi Lauk (white rice) and Nasi Dagang.

Dessert

Since we have made numerous trips to East Coast, things become a norm and less surprises.

D11 East Coast

Normally we would take the coastal road from Bachok all the way to Kuantan.

Kampung Penarik

One of my favourite (and soon disappearing coasting town) is Kampung Penarik.

Kuala Terengganu (2)

We took a slow drive through the secondary trunk roads and through many villages. It took us 5 hours from Kota Bharu to Kuala Terengganu (fast drive is less than 3 hours).

Kuala Terengganu (4)

Our usual stop will be Kampung Cina (Chinatown) for lunch.

Kuala Terengganu (5)

The Chinatown in KT is not as big but still provide a good stroll.

Kuala Terengganu (1)

There are still a few shop houses retaining the old architecture.

Kuala Terengganu (3)

It was 2pm when we departed from KT and reached Kuala Lumpur by 11:30pm. The delay was caused by the Qing-Ming Festival. Traffic jam started from Bentong all the way to KL.

Bentong Ginger Garlic Kampung Chicken

It is a bad idea to stuck in traffic with full kidney and empty stomach, so we detour to Bentong to eat the famous fish and chicken with Bentong ginger. Good food at Restaurant SHL.

No matter how stressful life imposed on us, we should always have some fun.
